The Effect of High Dose Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) on Proinflammatory Cytokines in COVID-19

Background: COVID-19 is a new pandemic that has claimed many lives in countries. This was caused by the SARSCoV2. Until now, there no specific antiviral drug or vaccine against Covid-19 for potential therapy humans. virus can cause cytokine storms which worsen symptoms sufferers due to an imbalance between increased oxidant production and available antioxidants. Vitamin C important antioxidant protects body from various bad effects of free radicals. At high concentrations vitamin plays role immunomodulation. study conducted determine effect doses on levels pro-inflammatory cytokines Covid-19. Method: research type literature study. The population this were journals about Covid-19, C, antioxidants radicals, inflammatory reactions viral infections with samples taken indexed published 2015 2020. There are also clinical trials inflammation these journals. Results: results trial 54 patients enrolled 3 hospitals given 1: 1 ratio high-dose intravenous (HDIVC) placebo administration. HDIVC group received 12 g / 50 ml every hours 7 days at rate hour, bacteriostatic water injection same way. administration showed reduction markers compared placebo. Conclusion: conclusion shows play reducing proinflammatory cytokines.
